This beautifully restored colonial revival mansion
sits high above Picton Harbour on Lake Ontario. The
Claramount’s wellness strategy is partly based on
Sebastian Kneipp’s therapeutic model, developed in
mid-19th century Bavaria. Water is its main focus,
and many of the treatments take place in the heated
salt-water pool. Aquatic massage and programs like
Aqua Pilates improve the body’s range of motion and
mobility. Individual attention by registered
therapists and aestheticians ensure that guests are
professionally pampered. Onsite, ten luxurious
suites are decorated with period antiques and
original Canadian art. The dining room features
gourmet cuisine that highlights local produce and
wine. Deep water berths accommodate guests arriving
by boat. The spa at the Claramount was opened in
2004 as part of a meticulous renovation and addition
to the original colonial revival mansion built in
1904. It sits high above Picton Bay in Lake Ontario,
near the mouth of the Trent-Severn waterway.
Nearby Sandbanks Provincial Park has the longest
freshwater sand dunes in the world.

The Claramount Spa has six spacious treatment rooms
and uses the exclusive line of Eminence handmade
Organic Skincare products.

This is a ‘Water Spa’. The treatment philosophy
draws upon the therapeutic model developed in
mid-nineteenth century Bavaria by Sebastian Kneipp.
Water is the essential component in Kneipp Therapy,
which is woven into many aspects of the treatments
at the Claramount.
A number of one-to-one aqua therapy treatments are
conducted in the heated, saltwater pool, including
‘Aquatic Massage Therapy’ and ‘Aqua Therapy’
movement classes. ‘Aqua Chi’ blends the essence of
Chi Gung and Tai Chi movements and ‘Aqua Toning’ is
a class blending breath with resistance movements in
the pool.
New for 2006 is the Claramount Kur experience. Kurs
involve a deeper level of treatment. The word comes
from the German for ‘cure’. Look for anti-cellulite
and foot repair treatment packages. Some Claramount
Kur Experiences involve light therapy, pool and
infra red sauna or dry brush, steam/sauna and rain
shower/affusion treatments.
It is intended that the rejuvenation you experience
here will carry over into the rest of your life.

One- and two-night accommodation packages include
breakfasts and dinners. Day Spa Packages and a
variety of seasonal and special occasion getaways
are also offered.

The Claramount Inn has ten beautifully renovated
suites tastefully appointed with antiques and
Canadian art. Local ingredients are used in the
kitchen and the dining room has a great view over
the harbour. The strong culinary tradition at the
inn is associated with Quinty’s Isle and Prince
Edward County as a whole. It is Ontario’s newest
wine-making region and has a long tradition of top
quality local produce.
